About the position

The Risk Project Manager is responsible for managing multiple large-scale projects within the financial services industry, focusing on risk management. This role involves overseeing projects from inception to completion, ensuring alignment with organizational goals, and providing comprehensive solutions to complex problems. The manager will work closely with internal stakeholders and subject matter experts to define requirements, implement project management methodologies, and ensure successful project delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct preliminary investigations for all project requests.
  • Review requirements, specifications, and testing.
  • Ensure training plans align with organizational priorities, business plans, and objectives.
  • Provide a proactive interface for project stakeholders and senior management teams to ensure business requirements are accurately defined.
  • Refine and implement project management methodologies, tools, and practices for continuous process improvement.
  • Select and manage project teams throughout the project lifecycle, including planning, assigning, scheduling, monitoring, and reviewing project activities.
  • Conduct interviews, compile and analyze responses, and create business cases for projects.
  • Participate in root cause analysis to recommend actions for improving productivity and efficiency.
  • Identify, define, and document complex business and technical requirements, processes, and deliverables.
  • Develop, prepare, present, and maintain project plans, including staffing requirements, cost estimates, detailed budgets, and schedules.
  • Perform project risk assessments by identifying key risk factors and providing effective mitigation strategies.
  • Apply established project methodologies to manage projects, including change control processes and budget monitoring.
  • Serve as the liaison between internal customers and external suppliers, communicating regularly with project stakeholders.
  • Deliver systems on appropriate platforms in compliance with established technology standards, monitoring testing and executing quality assurance checks.
  • Perform project evaluations and participate in post-project quality monitoring.

Requirements

  • Extensive knowledge and skills in financial services and risk management.
  • Experience managing multiple large-scale projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to influence strategic direction and develop tactical plans.
  • Strong problem-solving skills to provide comprehensive solutions.
  • Experience in project management methodologies and tools.

Nice-to-haves

  • Broker dealer experience preferred.
  • Master's degree, Six Sigma Blackbelt, or PMP certification preferred.
  • Experience leading risk organizations through risk transformations, especially in banks with over $100 billion in assets-under-management.
