About the position

The Surveillance and Risk Analysis (SRA) Department at the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City is seeking an experienced individual to support senior management and supervisory functions through analysis of banking conditions, surveillance of emerging risks, and assistance with examinations. This role involves monitoring banking industry performance, contributing to quantitative responsibilities, and developing insights into community banking risks and policies. The position offers a flexible/hybrid work environment and is available at multiple office locations.

Responsibilities

• Monitor banking industry performance and emerging banking policy issues, preparing summaries and presentations for management.
• Contribute to and/or lead the department's quantitative responsibilities through the creation and maintenance of monitoring tools and reports.
• Leverage knowledge of financial trends and risks to create presentations and speaking notes for senior management engagements.
• Support or participate in bank examinations and inspections as needed.
• Participate in Federal Reserve System groups reviewing regulatory and industry matters.

Requirements

• Minimum of six years relevant experience or four years relevant bank examiner experience.
• Bachelor's degree in economics, business, or finance.
• Strong oral and written communication skills, with experience delivering messages to large audiences or executive management.
• Ability to influence, collaborate, and build relationships.
• Good understanding of financial markets and the banking industry.
• Strong analytical skills to interpret complex financial concepts and analyze impacts of financial shocks or regulatory changes.
• Proficiency in MS Excel (particularly macros/visual basics), Tableau, and SQL; experience with R and/or Python is a plus.

Nice-to-haves

• Professional certifications such as CFA, PRM, FRM, CPA, or CIA are a plus.
