About the position

The CIBC Co-op Program is designed to provide students with valuable work experience that complements their academic training and career aspirations. Co-ops will work alongside a skilled team of investment professionals, gaining technical and analytical skills while participating in community outreach and networking opportunities. The program runs from January to June, offering mentorship and leadership support to ensure a meaningful learning experience.

Responsibilities

• Join the technology team and work directly with software developers to design, build, test, and maintain applications.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to assist in the design and development of applications.
• Work toward continuous improvement in application performance and stability.
• Assist in discovering, evaluating, and implementing technologies to maximize user experience and efficiency.
• Perform testing to measure software quality and ensure it meets standards.
• Assist in Agile/Scrum development and application support.
• Write technical specifications and documentation; translate business requirements into functional specifications.

Requirements

• Education in Computer Science and/or Engineering preferred, other majors may be considered.
• Foundational knowledge of programming languages (e.g., Python, Javascript, Java, C++, C#).
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work in collaborative teams.
• Emerging knowledge of software applications and technical processes (e.g., cloud, AI, machine learning, mobile).
• In touch with industry-wide technology trends and best practices.
• Minimum 3.0 GPA.
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to multitask.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies.
• Familiarity with cloud technologies and machine learning.
