About the position

GovCIO is seeking an Information System Security Engineer to support federal customers with Cyber compliance functions. This fully remote position involves managing a multi-tenant AWS environment, leading accreditations, and ensuring the implementation of NIST 800-53 standards. The role focuses on planning, implementing, and monitoring security measures to protect program data, systems, and networks, while ensuring accurate documentation of security protocols.

Responsibilities

• Manage multi-tenant AWS environment and lead accreditations ensuring NIST 800-53 implementation.
• Coordinate patching, vulnerability remediation, and STIGing for assigned programs.
• Plan, implement, and monitor security measures for the protection of program data, systems, and networks.
• Ensure the organization's data and infrastructure are protected and that security is accurately documented.
• Identify security standards to harden AWS environment and coach teams on implementing them across assigned programs.
• Assess and recommend security measures that meet NIST 800-53 requirements.
• Leverage technical knowledge of IT, systems, and networks to assess the client's security posture.
• Collaborate with teams to identify, report on, and coordinate remediation of cyber threats to the client.
• Review vulnerability scans and assessments of servers.
• Respond to assigned tasks, incidents, and service requests.
• Suggest Cyber Security architecture improvements.
• Maintain and update RMF Body of Evidence (BOE).
• Perform security engineering in a cloud environment, specifically supporting AWS.

Requirements

• High School diploma with 10+ years of relevant experience or commensurate experience.
• Clearance Required: Secret, must be eligible to upgrade to TS.
• Required certification: CISSP.
• Understanding of the full security engineering lifecycle from requirements to deployment.
• Knowledge of IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS architectures.
