About the position
As a part-time Registered Nurse (RN) in Acute Care, you will be responsible for the delegation, supervision, and provision of nursing care for a designated group of patients. This role involves utilizing the nursing process to provide age-appropriate patient care, participating in research, and incorporating findings into clinical practice. Responsibilities
- Perform age-appropriate assessments.
- Analyze data to identify nursing problems.
- Provide direct patient care and develop individualized plans of care in partnership with patients and families.
- Evaluate patient progress toward goals and revise care plans as needed.
- Delegate patient care tasks to LPNs and unlicensed assistive personnel based on job descriptions and patient needs.
- Supervise the performance of LPNs and unlicensed assistive personnel appropriately.
- Build teamwork when supervising and delegating to others.
- Document patient care according to policies and procedures.
- Ensure appropriate implementation of physician's orders.
- Precept new nursing employees and/or nursing students.
- Identify and resolve safety risks.
- Participate in continuous quality improvement and periodic review of policies and procedures.
- Assist with educational activities for other staff on the nursing unit.
- Perform other related work as required or requested.
Requirements
- Current RN license in the State of Illinois required.
- Healthcare Provider or Instructor BLS certification required within 30 days of hire.
- ACLS Provider or Instructor certification required within one year of hire date.
- 12 months experience as a registered nurse is required for promotion in the clinical ladder.
Nice-to-haves
- BSN preferred.
- Enrollment in BSN or MSN program or completion of BSN required for higher Clinical Nurse levels.
