About the position
The RN Addiction Treatment role involves providing skilled nursing services to patients dealing with substance use disorders. The RN is responsible for managing detoxification, conducting ongoing assessments, evaluations, and triage, as well as teaching harm reduction strategies. The position requires collaboration with primary care providers and community services to develop goal-oriented treatment plans and ensure comprehensive care for patients in an ambulatory community-based treatment model.
Responsibilities
- Provide skilled nursing services to patients with substance use disorders.
- Manage detoxification and ongoing assessments of patients.
- Develop goal-oriented treatment plans in collaboration with patients and care providers.
- Facilitate and schedule intakes, discharges, and transfers to appropriate programs.
- Monitor medication distribution and adjust medications as prescribed.
- Conduct regular evaluations of patient progress and provide crisis intervention as needed.
- Submit timely clinical documentation and coordinate services with all involved providers.
- Advocate for patients' rights and provide education on accessing treatment programs.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge on addiction treatment trends and local resources.
- Participate in cross-functional teams and performance improvement initiatives.
Requirements
- Must be a Registered Nurse (RN) licensed in Texas.
- At least one year of professional nursing experience, preferably in a detox unit or similar setting.
- Must obtain and maintain approved CPR certification, de-escalation training, and ASAM training.
- Proficiency in detoxification procedures and understanding of withdrawal management.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience in Windows Operating System and Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel).
- Additional language abilities are desirable.
