About the position

The RN ADON (Assistant Director of Nursing) is responsible for overseeing the nursing department within a healthcare facility, ensuring compliance with regulations and standards of care. This role involves planning, developing, and implementing nursing programs, as well as maintaining quality assurance and coordinating nursing services with other resident services. The RN ADON will also participate in administrative duties, staff management, and infection control practices, while ensuring the delivery of high-quality care to residents.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate, and direct the nursing department and its programs.
  • Maintain facility's policies and procedures governing the nursing department.
  • Develop methods for coordination and communication of nursing services with other resident services.
  • Implement and maintain an ongoing quality assurance program for the nursing department.
  • Assist in facility investigations and surveys by authorized government agencies.
  • Perform administrative duties such as completing medical forms, reports, and evaluations.
  • Monitor the facility's quality improvement and survey reports.
  • Assist in calculating staffing needs for the nursing service department.
  • Implement and maintain a quality of care program, including weekly meetings.
  • Assist the pharmaceutical services team in developing policies for medication administration.
  • Schedule and participate in care plan meetings as necessary.
  • Recommend staffing levels based on census numbers and resident needs.
  • Assist in the recruitment and selection of nursing personnel.
  • Delegate and train nursing department personnel to maintain quality care.
  • Develop and execute performance evaluation schedules for nursing staff.
  • Make daily rounds to ensure compliance with nursing standards.
  • Review complaints and grievances and report to the Administrator.
  • Serve as the Infection Control Coordinator for the facility.
  • Maintain an antibiotic stewardship program.

Requirements

  • Current, unencumbered RN license to practice as a Registered Nurse.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred.
  • 2 years of experience in a supervisory role in healthcare, preferably in Long-Term Care.
  • Minimum of 6 months experience in rehabilitative and restorative nursing practices preferred.
  • Knowledgeable of reimbursement regulations and nursing practices.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in Geriatrics, Hospice & Palliative Medicine, Psychiatry, and Wound Care.
