About the position

This position accepts the responsibility and accountability for the delivery of patient care with the multidisciplinary team while using the nursing process and maintaining professional nursing standards. The role involves assessing and evaluating the patient's needs, developing and implementing a plan of care, guiding patient care activities, providing direction to Nurse Assistants, and facilitating learning opportunities for patients and families. Effective communication with colleagues and multidisciplinary caregivers is essential to ensure optimal patient care outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Assesses and evaluates the patient's physical, psychosocial, environmental, spiritual, social and education needs and documents patient/family responses to nursing interventions.
  • Develops and implements patient's plan of care, including the discharge plan, based on standards of nursing practice, health center policy, and patient/family needs.
  • Guides and directs patient care activities by utilizing clinical/critical thinking skills and evidence-based practice.
  • Provides daily direction and guidance to Nurse Assistant.
  • Facilitates and/or implements learning opportunities to meet the educational needs of patient/family by assessing the learning needs and formulating a teaching plan.
  • Effectively communicates pertinent patient changes/conditions to colleagues and to multidisciplinary caregivers.

Requirements

  • Current RN licensure in the state of Iowa, or qualified multi-state license required.
  • Graduate of an accredited RN program required.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.
  • Previous experience in acute care preferred but not required.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects at one time and flexibility to meet department needs.
