About the position

The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Vascular Access Team at AHN Wexford Hospital is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care for patients. This role emphasizes leadership, teamwork, and patient-centered care, ensuring high-quality service delivery in a supportive environment. The RN will work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams and contribute to quality initiatives while promoting patient safety and satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Assess human responses and plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for individuals or families.
  • Provide leadership in a professional practice setting.
  • Contribute to building the team by helping others succeed through role modeling and mentoring.
  • Assign or delegate tasks based on patient needs and staff skill levels.
  • Maintain a safe environment considering patient condition and complexity of interventions.
  • Provide feedback regarding clinical practice and role performance to peers.
  • Share knowledge and skills with colleagues.
  • Create a culture of safety and risk-taking by accepting mistakes.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary teams to evaluate clinical care or health services.
  • Promote patient safety initiatives and participate in quality initiatives.
  • Supervise and evaluate assigned LPN scope of practice as appropriate.
  • Utilize the nursing process to implement patient care plans according to individual needs.
  • Analyze health status and determine patient care needs based on data comparison.
  • Assess changes in patient condition and notify appropriate personnel.
  • Accept assignments in areas outside the primary unit as needed.
  • Demonstrate commitment to continuous lifelong learning.
  • Promote the advancement of the nursing profession through participation in professional organizations.
  • Seek learning activities to maintain and develop clinical skills and knowledge.
  • Participate in peer review and obtain feedback regarding practice.
  • Meet time and attendance guidelines per hospital policy.
  • Continuously evaluate patient and family satisfaction and participate in initiatives to improve it.
  • Promote compassionate communication that is patient and family-centered.
  • Assess and attempt to resolve patient/family concerns.
  • Utilize effective time management skills to complete assigned duties.

Requirements

  • Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance Certificate
  • Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance Certificate
  • Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance Certificate
  • Current State of PA RN licensure or current multi-state licensure through the enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC)
  • CPR certification
  • 2 years IV experience
