About the position

The RN Certified Lactation Consultant at Medical City Alliance is a part-time role focused on providing expert support and education to breastfeeding mothers and their infants. This position involves collaborating with healthcare teams to develop individualized feeding plans, conducting clinical assessments, and teaching prenatal classes. The consultant plays a vital role in enhancing patient care and supporting the professional development of nursing staff.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert lactation support to breastfeeding mothers and their infants.
• Collaborate with healthcare teams to develop individualized feeding plans.
• Conduct clinical assessments and create evidence-based feeding strategies.
• Teach prenatal classes in coordination with the Lead Lactation Consultant.
• Support the professional development of nursing and clinical staff.

Requirements

• Registered Nurse license eligible to practice in the State of Texas.
• Current BLS certification from an HCA approved vendor.
• IBCLC certification required within 1 year of hire if not achieved at time of hire.
• Associate's degree required; BSN preferred (BSN required within 3 years of employment).
• Minimum of one year experience in lactation preferred.

Nice-to-haves

• Membership in a Professional Nursing Organization.
• Certification in Breastfeeding education if not holding IBCLC.
