About the position

The Clinical Resource Nurse at Westminster Canterbury of Lynchburg is a full-time Registered Nurse (RN) position focused on providing comprehensive nursing care in a 5-Star rated Continuing Care Retirement Community. This role involves conducting assessments, supervising nursing staff, and ensuring adequate staffing levels while collaborating with the healthcare team to deliver high-quality patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Complete admission assessments including physical, skin, fall risk, and continence assessments for new admissions.
  • Assist in completing nursing summary assessments, skin assessments, and MDS assessments on healthcare floors daily as assigned.
  • Be flexible with schedule hours and work with the scheduler monthly to fill in any nursing holes that are needed for the month.
  • Assist other nursing personnel in the administration of total resident care and serve as Charge Nurse, Medication Nurse, or Nursing Supervisor as needed per schedule.
  • Function as the RN Nursing Supervisor as scheduled, including weekend shifts.
  • Ensure all floors are adequately staffed and collaborate with the Scheduling Coordinator.
  • Supervise direct care staff and make routine rounds on nursing units, responding to emergency situations as needed.
  • Administer IVs, obtain blood samples, and assist with other professional nursing procedures as required.
  • Provide guidance and counseling in resolving problems with residents, families, and staff, offering education and direction to direct care staff as needed.
  • Complete disciplinary warnings as required and provide education/direction to direct care staff, forwarding to the Director of Nursing (DON).
  • Communicate with the Team Leader and check discharge folders daily to ensure all discharge information/orders are up to date.
  • Participate in the staff evaluation process and communicate with families and physicians as needed.
  • Assist the DON with related duties including chart auditing and survey preparedness.

Requirements

  • Registered Nurse (RN) license in Virginia or eligible for licensure.
  • Experience in a healthcare setting, preferably in a supervisory role.
  • Strong assessment and clinical skills.
  • Ability to work flexible hours and adapt to changing schedules.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a Continuing Care Retirement Community or similar setting.
  • Knowledge of MDS assessments and regulatory requirements.
