About the position

This position will function in a fast paced medical setting, specializing in one or more areas of medical care. The ideal candidate will demonstrate professionalism and excellent communication skills to foster and contribute to a collegial environment, with the primary focus of providing outstanding care to our patients and their families.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate an exceptional patient care experience by ensuring and assisting patient flow within the office, attending to needs of patients, their families and medical staff
  • Prepare patient for physician visit: Obtain and document appropriate vital signs and health history information in Electronic Health Record (Allscripts). Assist patients with any paperwork necessary for the visit.
  • Check vital signs, give injections (including immunizations), medication administration, breathing treatments, Pulmonary Function Testing, dressings, vision/hearing testing, suture removal, patient education and assisting physician with procedures.
  • Distribute/educate regarding home spacers and nebulizers.
  • Assist with follow up calls to families regarding visits/procedures.
  • Specimen collection (including finger sticks/venipuncture), performing laboratory tests, documentation, recordkeeping, and reporting.
  • Telephone and walk-in triage, patient documentation and follow up.
  • Check and maintain Crash Cart chart, check and maintain Automated External Defibrillator on a rotational basis.
  • Assist with preparing clinical schedule.
  • Provide excellent, clear documentation in every area of the office. All documentation is done in the Electronic Health Record, either by entry or by scanning documents.
  • Work closely with physicians to ensure patient and family needs are met in an expeditious manner.
  • Assist in other areas of office as required.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited RN program
  • Current RN license in the State of Kentucky
  • BLS certification is required
  • From 2 - 4 years' clinical experience
  • Prefer experience in a physician office (or hospital) setting

Nice-to-haves

  • Phlebotomy experience preferred
  • Experience working with a pediatric population preferred
  • Working experience with Microsoft Word, Excel preferred
  • Electronic health record experience preferred
  • Self-directed and motivated with the ability to multitask
  • Strong organizational and communication skills required
