About the position

The RN Clinical Educator/Infection Preventionist at Wilton Manors Health and Rehabilitation Center is responsible for providing direct nursing care to residents and supervising the daily activities of nursing staff. This role ensures compliance with nursing standards and regulations while maintaining high-quality care. The position involves administrative authority and accountability for nursing duties, including medication administration, care planning, and staff supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Direct the day-to-day functions of nursing assistants in accordance with current rules and regulations.
  • Ensure compliance of nursing personnel with facility policies and procedures.
  • Supervise nursing staff while adhering to their scope of practice.
  • Make written and oral reports concerning shift activities as required.
  • Coordinate nursing services with other resident services to maintain total care regimens.
  • Participate in facility surveys conducted by government agencies.
  • Assist in planning nursing services for residents' discharge plans.
  • Admit, transfer, and discharge residents as required.
  • Complete accident/incident reports as necessary.
  • Maintain accurate electronic health records (EHR) for residents' admissions, transfers, and discharges.
  • Receive and transcribe telephone orders from physicians as per facility policy.
  • Chart progress notes that reflect care provided and residents' responses.
  • Prepare and administer medications as ordered by physicians.
  • Order prescribed medications, supplies, and equipment as necessary.
  • Ensure proper handling of narcotics according to regulations and facility policy.
  • Participate in performance evaluations and make recommendations regarding staff.
  • Develop work assignments and conduct daily rounds to ensure compliance with nursing standards.
  • Meet regularly with nursing personnel to improve services.
  • Implement and maintain established nursing objectives and standards.
  • Notify attending physicians and next-of-kin of changes in residents' conditions.
  • Administer professional services such as catheterizations and tube feedings as required.
  • Ensure direct care is provided according to residents' care plans and wishes.
  • Attend and participate in all required in-service programs.
  • Maintain professional competence through continuing education programs.
  • Monitor personnel to ensure safety regulations are followed in equipment use.
  • Ensure work areas are maintained in a safe and sanitary manner.
  • Review care plans to ensure appropriate care is rendered.
  • Assist in planning, scheduling, and revising the MDS with the Resident Assessment Coordinator.
  • Ensure nursing staff are knowledgeable of residents' rights and responsibilities.
  • Review and report on complaints and grievances made by residents.
  • Investigate allegations of resident abuse and ensure compliance with HIPAA requirements.

Requirements

  • Must possess a Nursing Degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Current RN License in the state of Florida.
  • Experience in medication administration and nursing care planning.
  • Knowledge of resident rights and discharge planning processes.
  • Ability to supervise and evaluate nursing staff performance.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certification in nursing education or clinical instruction.
