About the position
The RN Clinical Nurse IV position at UNC Health is a full-time role focused on providing expert nursing care in the GI Surgery and Surgical Oncology Acute Care Unit. This position involves working with a diverse patient population, primarily adult post-surgical patients with gastrointestinal cancers and complex GI-related illnesses. The nurse will demonstrate clinical leadership, coordinate interdisciplinary care, and engage in educational and professional development activities while promoting a culture of diversity and teamwork.
Responsibilities
- Promotes an environment that values diversity, open communication, teamwork, and exceptional service.
- Facilitates interdisciplinary collaboration in patient/client care planning to achieve desired patient outcomes.
- Demonstrates and role models clinical expertise in specified patient population and shares expertise with other staff.
- Coordinates, designs, and implements educational programs to meet identified learning needs of staff, patients, and families.
- Creates and promotes an environment conducive to recruiting and retaining staff.
- Establishes and promotes standards of excellence for areas of responsibility and ensures consistent implementation by staff.
- Collaborates with Nurse Manager to evaluate research that is applicable to practice and promotes changes in standards of care as appropriate.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) from a school of professional nursing.
- Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of North Carolina.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification.
- Eighteen (18) months of professional nursing experience in a tertiary care setting.
