About the position

The RN Coordinator for Trauma Services at Memorial Health Meadows Hospital is responsible for improving patient outcomes in pre-hospital care, emergency care, and inpatient trauma care. This role involves collaboration with various healthcare professionals and organizations to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and enhance communication between pre-hospital and hospital settings. The coordinator will also provide education on trauma and stroke care, maintain trauma data, and participate in community education initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Attend local, regional, district, and state meetings to stay current with trauma and stroke data and educate the team as needed.
  • Collaborate with surgeons, specialties, ED providers, and nurses to ensure best outcomes for patient care.
  • Work with organizations and committees to improve patient outcomes and meet regulatory compliance for community education.
  • Enhance communication from pre-hospital to hospital and overall patient outcomes.
  • Assist in outreach to local EMS services and other EMS affiliations as required.
  • Maintain annual community education and PI projects per regulatory requirements for Trauma & Stroke.
  • Attend and participate in meetings, responsible for all communicated information.
  • Enter Trauma Data into the Trauma Database.
  • Provide staff education on trauma care and stroke care.
  • Collect data for the development of stroke/trauma pathways and protocols and review for acute care areas.
  • Maintain ongoing education and collaboration requirements with HUB Hospital and supporting agencies.
  • Maintain policies/procedures for acute stroke and trauma care, reviewing and updating annually.
  • Maintain knowledge of Meadows Health Disaster Plan and the department's role.
  • Act as a liaison for Emergency Medical Services, Helicopter Services, and the Hospital.
  • Assist in PI Collection and PI Projects for Trauma & Stroke Programs.
  • Provide for patient comfort, safety, respect, and confidentiality.
  • Demonstrate effective therapeutic communication skills with patients, caregivers, and family members.

Requirements

  • BLS Required
  • Registered Nurse in the state of practice or multi-state compact nursing license
  • Bachelor's degree required, Master's preferred
  • Minimum of three years recent experience in a hospital acute care setting
  • Knowledge of clinical documentation systems/EHR, age and culture-specific competencies
  • Working knowledge of reimbursement and coding structures preferred.
