About the position

The RN Director of Operations at Amedisys Home Health Services is a pivotal role responsible for the overall organization and financial management of the care center. This position requires a strong leader who can direct care center operations and functions in accordance with approved policies, procedures, and standards. The Director will ensure the enhancement of business development and continuous improvement of care center efficiency and fiscal success. This includes providing supervision to clinical managers who are responsible for delivering quality care to patients, maintaining the care center's image within the community, and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and standards. In this role, the Director will educate staff members about state, federal, and accreditation requirements, ensuring that the care center adheres to all local, state, and federal laws regarding licensure and certification. The Director will also oversee billing processes, analyze reimbursement data, and collaborate with staff to maintain accurate records. Regular meetings with the business development and management teams will be conducted to promote home health services and meet budgeted admission goals. The RN Director of Operations will be responsible for staff recruitment, hiring, evaluation, and guidance, ensuring that the care center employs qualified personnel. They will also ensure adequate orientation for new team members and provide leadership in staff education programs. The Director will handle employee corrective actions and discipline issues, develop care center budgets, and ensure financial and clinical performance aligns with established metrics. Additionally, the Director will implement performance improvement programs to drive quality care and positive patient outcomes, while also participating in the on-call process and adhering to company policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for overall organization and financial management of the care center.
  • Direct care center operations and functions according to approved policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Ensure enhancement of business development and continuous improvement of care center efficiency and fiscal success.
  • Provide supervision to clinical manager(s) to ensure delivery of quality care to patients.
  • Maintain the care center's image in the community and with state and national organizations.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulations, laws, policies, and procedures.
  • Educate staff about state, federal, and accreditation requirements.
  • Ensure all services are billed as provided to the proper payor source.
  • Analyze reimbursement data, identify trends, and initiate appropriate plans of action.
  • Direct weekly business development and management team meetings.
  • Provide input and guidance related to marketing activities and care center marketing plan.
  • Oversee staff recruitment, hiring, assignment, evaluation, and guidance.
  • Ensure adequate orientation of every team member assigned to the care center.
  • Assign and direct staff with appropriate skills to perform duties.
  • Coach, direct, and encourage staff through formal and informal means.
  • Provide leadership planning for staff education programs and encourage continuous education.
  • Handle employee corrective action and discipline issues objectively, in consultation with HR.
  • Develop care center budgets in coordination with the Area Vice President of Operations.
  • Responsible for care center financial and clinical performance along with delivery on key metrics.
  • Ensure implementation of a performance improvement program to drive quality care and positive patient outcomes.
  • Collaborate with the Area Vice President of Clinical Operations in implementing clinical operations standards and processes.
  • Participate in the on-call process and support the on-call schedule.
  • Adhere to company policies and procedures and HIPAA/Privacy Program, Compliance Program, and Code of Conduct and Ethics.
  • Provide oversight and approval of payroll and ensure compliance with pay practices.
  • Monitor and evaluate employee performance and hold employees accountable for defined goals.
  • Develop employees through coaching, mentoring, and training opportunities.

Requirements

  • Associates degree in Business or Clinical related field.
  • Two (2+) years' home care experience and at least one year of supervisory experience or two (2+) years' experience in leadership/management in health care, home health or hospice.
  • Current, unencumbered license to practice as a Registered Nurse or other health care professional specific to that state.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business or Clinical related field preferred.
  • Licensed Clinical Professional preferred.
  • Home health experience preferred.
