About the position

The RN Educator at FreedomCare is responsible for delivering high-quality education to Home Health Aide (HHA) students and overseeing the Advanced Care Directives (ACD) course. This role focuses on ensuring that students acquire the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in home health care, while also maintaining compliance with industry standards and regulations. The position involves a combination of teaching, student evaluation, and administrative duties, all aimed at enhancing the educational experience and outcomes for students.

Responsibilities

  • Implement and teach a 40-hour Home Health Aide (HHA) course and an Advanced Care Directives (ACD) course.
  • Utilize various teaching methods and technologies to enhance learning and engagement.
  • Conduct classroom and practical training sessions for students.
  • Demonstrate practical skills and techniques related to home health care and advanced care directives.
  • Facilitate hands-on practice and simulation exercises to reinforce learning.
  • Assess student performance through tests, quizzes, practical evaluations, and assignments.
  • Provide constructive feedback and guidance to help students improve their skills and knowledge.
  • Ensure that all training programs comply with state and federal regulations and industry standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance, performance, and course evaluations.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development activities to stay current with nursing education trends and practices.

Requirements

  • NYS Licensed and currently registered as a Registered Professional Nurse.
  • Graduate of an approved school of nursing with a Diploma, Associate, or Baccalaureate Degree.
  • 2-3 years of experience in the provision of nursing care in an acute care facility.
  • One year of satisfactory nursing experience in Home Care is desired.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and procedure manuals.
  • Effective communication skills to speak before customers/patients or employees.
  • Good organizational, writing, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in teaching or educational roles within nursing.
  • Familiarity with home health care practices and advanced care directives.
