About the position

The Emergency Room Registered Nurse (RN) at Baylor Scott & White Health is responsible for overseeing patient care provided by the healthcare team. This role involves conducting patient assessments, recognizing health issues, creating and implementing care plans, and evaluating patient responses to treatment. The RN will build therapeutic relationships with patients and families, educate them on healthcare choices, and collaborate with colleagues to ensure effective care delivery.

Responsibilities

• Conduct detailed clinical assessments of patients.
• Prioritize patient and family needs in care planning.
• Create, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans.
• Adjust care plans based on patient responses and desired outcomes.
• Build therapeutic relationships with patients and families.
• Educate patients, families, and community members on healthcare choices.
• Assess and document learning needs of patients regularly.
• Collaborate with colleagues and community to develop care plans.
• Delegate tasks to team members and follow up on their completion.
• Utilize problem-solving strategies with patients, families, and staff.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
• Current and valid nursing license.
• BLS certification or ability to obtain within 30 days of starting.
• Deep understanding of nursing and patient care standards.
• Knowledge of nursing laws, rules, standards, and guidelines.
• Proficiency in medical terminology and common medications.
• Respect for medical ethics and patient privacy rights.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
• Positive social skills for diverse interactions.
• Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking abilities.
• Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office and electronic medical documentation.
