About the position

The Infusion Registered Nurse at Kelsey-Seybold Clinic is responsible for delivering high-quality nursing care to infusion patients, ensuring their safety and comfort while adhering to legal and professional standards. This role involves collaboration with an interdisciplinary team to provide exceptional care through patient education, nursing assessments, and the administration of various IV therapies, including chemotherapy and immunotherapy.

Responsibilities

  • Apply clinical nursing knowledge and skills to promote patient safety and comfort.
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to provide exceptional care to infusion patients.
  • Educate patients and families about infusion therapies and procedures.
  • Conduct nursing assessments to identify physiological and psychosocial needs.
  • Administer medications such as chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and other IV therapies.
  • Implement nursing interventions based on patient assessments.
  • Communicate patient concerns to the healthcare team.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an approved RN program (required for both RN I and RN II).
  • Valid and current Texas RN license (required for both RN I and RN II).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (required for both RN I and RN II).
  • Completion of ONS Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Fundamentals of Administration or Certificate Course within 3 months of employment (required for RN I).
  • Completion of ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Certificate Course within 3 months of employment (required for RN II).
  • ACLS certification within 3 months of employment (required for RN II).
  • Completion of 10 CEUs related to Oncology annually (required for RN II).
  • Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) certification or Certified Registered Nurse Infusion (CRNI) certification within 24 months of employment (required for RN II).
  • 2-5 years clinical RN experience (required for RN I).
  • 1+ year infusion, oncology, or related experience (required for RN I).
  • 5 years clinical RN experience (required for RN II).
  • 2 years infusion, oncology, or related experience (required for RN II).

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (preferred).
  • Chemotherapy administration experience (preferred for both RN I and RN II).
  • Epic experience (preferred for both RN I and RN II).
  • Experience with port-a-caths and other CVADs (preferred for both RN I and RN II).
  • Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) certification (preferred for both RN I and RN II).
  • Certified Registered Nurse Infusion (CRNI) certification (preferred for both RN I and RN II).
