About the position

The RN, ICU PRN position at Valley View Medical Center involves delivering critical care to acutely ill patients in a high-tech environment. The role requires the application of the nursing process, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation, while ensuring the emotional and psychosocial well-being of patients and their families. The nurse will monitor patient conditions, administer medications, and collaborate with healthcare teams to provide comprehensive care.

Responsibilities

• Deliver care to acutely and critically ill patients using the nursing process.
• Monitor, record, and communicate patient conditions to the care team and family.
• Administer prescribed medications and treatments in the ICU.
• Assist patients with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene and nutrition.
• Collaborate across disciplines to coordinate patient care and support needs.
• Evaluate learning needs of patients and provide appropriate education.
• Complete required documentation using Electronic Health Record (EHR).
• Participate in patient/family teaching and discharge planning.
• Float among various clinical services as needed.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing with a current Arizona RN license.
• One year of Critical Care experience preferred.
• Hemodynamic monitoring experience required.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required.
• NIH Stroke Scale training completed within 90 days of hire.
• Critical thinking skills and ability to work with minimal supervision.

Nice-to-haves

• Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) certification preferred.
