About the position

The RN, ICU PRN position at Valley View Medical Center involves delivering critical care to acutely ill patients in a high-tech environment. The role requires the application of the nursing process, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation, while ensuring patient confidentiality and adherence to healthcare regulations. The nurse will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive care, monitor patient conditions, and educate patients and families.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver care to acutely and critically ill patients using the nursing process.
  • Administer medications and therapies as per extensive protocols.
  • Monitor, record, and communicate patient conditions to the care team and family.
  • Assist patients with daily living activities, including hygiene and nutrition.
  • Collaborate across disciplines for coordinated patient care, including transfers and discharges.
  • Evaluate learning needs and provide education to patients and families.
  • Maintain quality delivery of patient care in compliance with nursing standards and regulations.
  • Complete required documentation in medical charts and Electronic Health Records (EHR).
  • Provide leadership and support to subordinate staff on the unit.
  • Float among various clinical services as needed.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in Nursing from an accredited school.
  • Current Arizona Registered Nurse Licensure or Compact State Licensure.
  • One year of Critical Care Experience preferred.
  • Hemodynamic monitoring experience required.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required.
  • NIH Stroke Scale training completed within 90 days of hire.
  • EKG Exam completed at hire.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred.
  • Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) certification preferred.
