About the position

The Intensive Care RN at Valley View Medical Center is responsible for delivering comprehensive care to acutely and critically ill patients in a high-tech monitoring environment. This role involves utilizing the nursing process for assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care, while also addressing the emotional and psychosocial needs of patients and their families. The RN will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure quality patient care and maintain compliance with healthcare regulations and standards.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver care to acutely and critically ill patients using the nursing process.
  • Administer medications and therapies as per extensive protocols.
  • Monitor, record, and communicate patient conditions to the care team and family.
  • Assist patients with activities of daily living, including hygiene and nutrition.
  • Collaborate across disciplines for coordinated patient care, including transfers and discharges.
  • Evaluate learning needs and provide education to patients and families.
  • Complete required documentation in medical charts and Electronic Health Record (EHR).
  • Participate in patient/family teaching and discharge planning.
  • Provide leadership and maintain professional nursing standards in a multidisciplinary setting.
  • Float among various clinical services as qualified.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing with a current Arizona RN license.
  • One year of Critical Care experience preferred.
  • Hemodynamic monitoring experience required.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required.
  • NIH Stroke Scale completion within 90 days of hire.
  • Critical thinking skills and ability to work with minimal supervision.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred.
  • Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) certification preferred.
