About the position

The ICU Nurse at Glendale Memorial Medical Center is responsible for monitoring and providing care to critically ill and unstable patients following extensive injury, surgery, or life-threatening diseases. This role requires strong multitasking abilities and sound judgment during emergencies, as well as the capacity to advocate for patients when they cannot do so themselves. The position involves collaboration with healthcare personnel and adherence to care plans to ensure patient comfort and safety.

Responsibilities

  • Monitors patients who are critically ill and unstable.
  • Assesses, plans, and implements nursing care while ensuring patient comfort.
  • Anticipates, identifies, and responds to informational and emotional needs of patients and families.
  • Guides and directs healthcare personnel in caring for patients.
  • Maintains knowledge of equipment setup, maintenance, and use.
  • Utilizes safeguards such as IV pump drug library and monitor alarms.
  • Initiates emergency support measures when necessary.
  • Assists with patient care duties and tasks.

Requirements

  • Minimum requirement of 6 months of prior acute care experience in the same unit.
  • Current California license as a Registered Nurse.
  • BLS/ACLS certification.
  • Excellent communication and patient skills required.
  • CT STROKE (NIHSS) certification within 90 days of hire.
