About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Carle BroMenn Medical Center is a professional caregiver responsible for providing high-quality nursing care to critically ill patients. This role involves utilizing the nursing process, maintaining accurate documentation, and collaborating with healthcare teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes. The RN will work variable shifts, including weekends, and must have critical care experience, particularly in cardiology.

Requirements

• Associate's Degree in Nursing required.
• Registered Professional Nurse (RN) License in Illinois upon hire.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (AHA) within 30 days of hire.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification (AHA) within 1 year of hire.
• 1-3 years of critical care experience, particularly in cardiology.

Responsibilities

• Assume responsibility for a group of patients and provide care using the nursing process.
• Perform initial assessments upon patient admission and develop appropriate care plans.
• Implement nursing interventions and modify care plans based on continuous evaluation.
• Maintain up-to-date and accurate documentation of nursing care provided.
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
• Report and correct safety hazards and incidents to ensure patient and employee safety.
• Participate in professional development and continuing education regarding acute stroke care.
• Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure the best patient outcomes.
