About the position
The RN II Med Surg Tower position at JFK Memorial Hospital involves providing comprehensive nursing care in the Surgical Tower Unit. The role requires utilizing the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care while considering various factors such as physical, psychosocial, and cultural needs. The nurse will be responsible for monitoring patients, administering medications, and following established protocols to ensure high-quality care.
Responsibilities
- Plan, implement, evaluate, and document patient care using the nursing process.
- Assess patients' physical, psychosocial, cultural, and spiritual needs.
- Monitor EKG and manage treatment for hypotension and dysrhythmias.
- Administer medications and calculate dosages accurately.
- Follow hospital protocols, including the chest pain protocol.
- Educate patients based on their teaching needs and readiness to learn.
Requirements
- Current RN license in California.
- Experience in a medical-surgical nursing environment.
- Knowledge of EKG monitoring and treatment protocols.
- Ability to calculate medication and fluid dosages accurately.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Nice-to-haves
- BLS and ACLS certification.
- Previous experience in an acute care setting.
- Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR).
