About the position

The RN Instructional Designer at Kaufman Hall is responsible for creating and revising clinical training content that integrates clinical, business, and industry knowledge. This role involves collaborating with senior team members and subject matter experts to develop effective educational materials for healthcare professionals. The position is primarily remote, with occasional travel to the Chicago office, and requires availability during standard business hours.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the development and execution of a comprehensive content development, management, and delivery plan.
  • Develop eLearning courses using approved content in accordance with internal style guidelines.
  • Troubleshoot Articulate Storyline 360 templates as well as custom templates during the development process.
  • Provide overall course design input during the development process.
  • Transfer existing eLearning content to new Articulate Storyline 360 course templates.
  • Create supplemental instructional materials such as student and facilitator guides as well as simulated job aids.
  • Design and author new content, including monthly/quarterly articles, case challenge modules, whitepapers, and resources.
  • Update and maintain the core curriculum in response to industry changes.
  • Incorporate updates from industry organizations into the curriculum.
  • Work with subject matter experts to author and expand educational content.
  • Create physician/provider education and training materials.
  • Assist with clinical content development and create materials based on identified opportunities.
  • Coordinate with technology experts to deliver clinical resources through software tools.
  • Communicate effectively with all associates and business contacts to promote teamwork.
  • Perform duties of a nurse planner for accreditation of learning activities, including assessing professional practice gaps and developing programs based on evidence.
  • Create outcomes related to activities and measure change in knowledge, skill, and/or practice.

Requirements

  • Strong background in nursing or clinical care.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Exhibit sound judgment while solving problems and demonstrate attention to detail.
  • Dedication to producing high-quality work products and developing strong client relationships.
  • Highly polished written and verbal communication skills.
  • 2-5 years of experience developing clinical content/continuing education for healthcare topics.
  • 2+ years of experience in a clinical role in the healthcare industry (RN, NP, MD, etc.).
  • Exposure to principles of adult learning.
  • Experience with the Articulate software course authoring tool.
  • Demonstrated experience in professional writing and/or editing.
  • Ability to adhere to rigorous timelines for development.
  • Excellent conceptual, organizational, and critical thinking skills.
  • Self-learner with a strong desire to acquire new skills and understand industry developments.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience using accepted educational methods and approaches in education or content development and design.
  • Experience with the Microsoft suite (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Publisher, Visio, SharePoint, Teams, etc.).
  • Preferred experience with projects that have involved subject matter experts (SMEs).
