About the position

The RN/LPN Nurse Residency Program at Dartmouth Health is designed to support newly graduated RNs and LPNs in their transition to hospital nursing practice. Participants will undergo an intensive two-week orientation followed by a 10-18 week period of hands-on training with a preceptor, focusing on essential nursing skills and professional development. This program aims to enhance the integration of new graduates into the nursing profession while fostering collaboration and practice improvement within the healthcare team.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in an intensive two-week orientation with nurse educators.
  • Work alongside a preceptor to enhance bedside nursing skills over 10-18 weeks.
  • Collaborate with nurse educators and department members on a practice improvement project.
  • Perform nursing skills such as IV placement, phlebotomy, code response, and wound care/assessment.
  • Transition into other departments after one year of employment.

Requirements

  • Must be a newly graduated RN or LPN.
  • LPN applicants must be matriculated into an RN program.
  • Ability to collaborate with healthcare professionals and participate in interprofessional teams.
