The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) position at Good Samaritan Society involves providing professional nursing care to residents in a long-term care setting. Responsibilities

• Provide professional nursing care for residents under supervision.
• Demonstrate knowledge of nursing principles relevant to the clinical setting.
• Perform testing to evaluate resident status and provide necessary care.
• Recognize problems and recommend solutions in emergent situations.
• Ensure the health, comfort, and safety of residents.
• Contribute to resident assessments and administer medications or treatments as ordered.
• Document resident interactions and outcomes related to care.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with residents and healthcare providers.
• Counsel residents and family members on prevention and treatment plans under supervision.
• Develop self-care programs based on resident education principles.

Requirements

• Graduate from an accredited practical nursing program as a Licensed Practical Nurse.
• Associate degree in practical nursing is preferred.
• Must hold an unencumbered LPN license with State Nursing board or possess multi-state licensure privileges.
• Completion of required annual continuing education units (CEU) and competency training requirements.

Nice-to-haves

• IV therapy/management skills if required by the position.
