About the position

The Registered Nurse in the AdventHealth Travel/Contract Nursing Program is responsible for delivering coordinated nursing care to patients across various facilities within the AdventHealth system. This role involves managing patient care effectively while ensuring a consistent experience across job sites. The position requires a commitment to quality patient care, effective communication, and adherence to established nursing standards and protocols.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates effective assessment skills to ensure quality patient care is provided.
• Performs and documents accurate initial assessments per unit standard, including initial observation and obtaining patient information.
• Observes and monitors patient lab work for trends and reports abnormal lab tests to the appropriate physician.
• Utilizes clinical data to implement appropriate interventions.
• Performs and documents ongoing patient assessments reflecting patients' physical and mental status according to unit standards.
• Initiates use of restraints per hospital policy and demonstrates commitment to safe alternatives prior to application.
• Demonstrates critical-thinking skills when analyzing cardiac rhythms.
• Develops, prioritizes, and documents individualized plans of care involving patients and families.
• Prepares patients for tests, procedures, and surgeries as ordered.
• Establishes appropriate nursing actions to ensure competent care delivery.
• Provides individualized, goal-directed nursing care utilizing the nursing process.
• Documents physical assessments in the electronic medical record and reports changes in patient condition timely.
• Maintains professional rapport with physicians, patients, and families, utilizing age-appropriate communication skills.
• Provides necessary education to patients and families from admission through discharge.

Requirements

• Associates Degree from an accredited school of nursing.
• Active Colorado RN license or active multi-state RN license required.
• Current AHA BLS certification.
• Current AHA ACLS certification.
• Minimum 2 years of recent Registered Nursing experience in acute care.
