About the position

The RN, Med/Surg position at Valley View Medical Center involves providing direct patient care using the nursing process, ensuring quality and safety in a collaborative multidisciplinary environment. The role includes monitoring patient conditions, administering medications, and assisting with daily living activities, all while advocating for the physical and emotional well-being of patients.

Responsibilities

  • Provides direct patient care using the nursing process.
  • Performs plan of care interventions, including medication administration and clinical treatments.
  • Documents patient care given and monitors patient conditions.
  • Communicates patient conditions to the care team, physician, patient, and family.
  • Assists patients with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene and nutrition.
  • Collaborates across disciplines to coordinate patient care and support needs.
  • Evaluates learning needs of patients and provides appropriate education.
  • Advocates for the physical and emotional well-being of patients.
  • Assures quality of care by measuring health outcomes against patient care goals.
  • Coordinates the delivery of patient care for the Med-surge unit.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in Nursing required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Graduate of a credited nursing program.
  • Valid Arizona nursing license or valid multistate license from a recognized compact state acceptable to Arizona.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification obtained within 90 days of hire.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification obtained within 90 days of hire.
  • Critical thinking skills and the ability to work with minimal supervision.

Nice-to-haves

  • NIH Stroke scale completed within 90 days of hire.
  • EKG exam at time of hire.
