About the position

The Medical Surgical unit at Mercy South is a critical care area that provides comprehensive nursing care for patients undergoing medical and surgical interventions. This role involves managing a diverse patient population with varying acuity levels, including those with acute and chronic conditions. Nurses in this unit will be responsible for pre and post-operative care, monitoring for complications, and providing support for patients with a range of diagnoses.

Responsibilities

• Manage care for acute medical surgical patients with various diagnoses.
• Provide pre and post-operative care, including pain management and wound care.
• Monitor patients for complications following procedures.
• Assist in the management of chronic conditions such as diabetes and COPD.
• Collaborate with healthcare teams to deliver excellent patient care.

Requirements

• Graduated from a school of nursing (Associate's Degree, Diploma, or BSN).
• Current RN license within the hiring state or compact licensure.
• Basic Life Support certification through the American Heart Association.
