About the position
The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Medical Unit at Trinity Health is responsible for delivering high-quality patient care while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team. This role involves assessing patient needs, developing and implementing care plans, and providing guidance to nursing staff. The RN will work night shifts and participate in weekend and holiday rotations, ensuring adherence to professional nursing standards and policies.
Responsibilities
- Assess and evaluate the patient's physical, psychosocial, environmental, spiritual, social, and educational needs.
- Develop and implement the patient's plan of care, including discharge planning.
- Guide and direct patient care activities using clinical and critical thinking skills.
- Provide daily direction and guidance to Licensed Practical Nurses and Nurse Assistants.
- Facilitate learning opportunities for patients and families by assessing educational needs and formulating teaching plans.
Requirements
- Current RN licensure in the state of Iowa or qualified multi-state license required.
- Associate Degree in Nursing or graduate from an accredited RN program required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.
- Previous experience in acute care preferred.
- Proof of Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required prior to employment or within 60 days of hire.
- Mandatory Reporting: Child and Dependent Adult Abuse requirement within 6 months of hire and renew every 5 years.
- Cardiac Dysrhythmias and Management class or equivalent within 3 months of hire, with annual skill validation.
