About the position
The position involves providing and directing primary nursing care to patients with cardiovascular, pulmonary, and vascular health deficits. The role requires comprehensive assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation of complex multisystem health care deficits, particularly for unstable patients or those needing complex care management. The nurse will also take on leadership roles within the unit, supported by the Director of Critical Care Nursing and other team leaders.
Responsibilities
- Utilize the nursing process to provide and direct primary nursing care to patients with cardiovascular/pulmonary/vascular health deficits.
- Perform comprehensive assessments, planning, intervention, and evaluation of complex multisystem health care deficits.
- Direct nursing care for unstable patients or those requiring complex care management.
- Handle multiple demands and tasks simultaneously, demonstrating clinical problem-solving skills.
- Assume unit leadership roles, including serving as Charge Nurse and committee leadership.
- Conduct unit orientation and education for new staff.
- Direct and guide the use of resources for patient care.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited diploma, associate degree, or baccalaureate degree nursing program.
- NJ State Nursing License required.
- BLS certification required.
- Preferred: Two years of experience in critical care nursing.
- Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in nursing.
- Basic Arrhythmia Interpretation, IV Therapy Certification, Hemodynamics, and Mock Code Workshop within 90 days of hire or promotion.
Nice-to-haves
- ACLS Certification preferred.
- PALS Certification preferred.
