About the position

UofL Health is investing in the health of Bullitt County, and the surrounding area with an expansion of UofL Health - Medical Center South to become an inpatient hospital - UofL Health - South Hospital. South Hospital is expected to open in early 2024 and will add approximately 100,000 square feet of new space to the existing facility. South Hospital will include a 10-bed intensive care unit, medical/surgical patient rooms, six operating rooms, new cardiac catheterization lab, expanded emergency department, centralized sterile processing area, laboratory, pharmacy, cardiopulmonary, respiratory therapy and more.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver nursing care to patients of varying age groups by utilizing the nursing process and nursing practice standards.
  • Intervene to achieve safe, optimal patient and family centered care health outcomes using Nursing Practice Competencies.
  • Coordinate patient care and communicate with the care team using Leadership Competencies.
  • Develop professionally as a life-long learner using Professional Profile Competencies.
  • Evaluate care based on evidence, the UofL Health quality model, and patient safety goals using Practice Outcomes Competencies.
  • Demonstrate competency caring for complex patients and participate on the care team to improve the quality of care in the clinical area.

Requirements

  • Associate Degree in Nursing from an accredited nursing program.
  • Current KY RN licensure or compact license with privileges to work in Kentucky.
  • Basic Life Saving (BLS) accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA).
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA) (may be required for specific clinical areas).
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA) (may be required for specific clinical areas).
  • All new-hire Associate Degree Registered Nurses (new graduate and experienced) are encouraged to start an approved BSN program.
  • All new RN graduates will participate in the Nurse Residency program and must successfully complete all activities.

Nice-to-haves
