About the position

The Scripps New Graduate Registered Nurse (RN) Residency Training Program is designed for new graduate nurses to facilitate their transition into clinical practice. This 40-week program provides education, coaching, and mentoring from experienced RNs, helping new graduates develop essential skills such as competence, confidence, critical thinking, and documentation. Upon successful completion, participants will be placed in a position within the Scripps system.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in a structured orientation program designed for new graduate nurses.
  • Receive education and coaching from Clinical Coaches and Preceptor RNs.
  • Develop competence and confidence in clinical skills over a 40-week period.
  • Engage in training as part of a collective group in various units.
  • Complete required documentation and assessments throughout the program.

Requirements

  • Current California RN License by the program start date.
  • BLS for Health Care Provider certification from the American Heart Association by program start date.
  • ACLS certification from the American Heart Association may be required for selected units by program start date.
  • Completed an accredited nursing program within the last 12 months at the date of application.
  • Six months or less of RN experience at the date of application.
