About the position
The Registered Nurse (RN) Supervisor at Towne Manor West is responsible for coordinating total resident care and overseeing all nursing units. This role involves supervisory and professional work, requiring advanced training and broad nursing experience, including administrative abilities and knowledge of training techniques. The RN Supervisor ensures compliance with professional nursing practices and facility policies while providing high-quality care in a compassionate environment.
Responsibilities
- Verifies daily staffing and redistributes as necessary.
- Collaborates with charge nurses to exchange information regarding resident care and conditions.
- Makes rounds to assess residents' conditions, focusing on critically ill residents.
- Ensures adherence to individual nursing care plans for each resident.
- Performs medication passes and/or direct resident care as needed.
- Participates in resident care committee meetings.
- Reinforces training and orientation of nursing personnel.
- Responds to emergencies throughout the shift.
- Assures a safe and sanitary environment for residents, employees, and visitors.
- Checks building security during evening and night hours.
- Reviews incident and investigative reports for accuracy.
- Monitors meal service to ensure resident satisfaction and nutritional adequacy.
- Assists in developing and implementing the nursing facility Quality Improvement Program.
- Ensures residents and families receive high-quality service in a caring atmosphere.
- Performs other duties as requested.
Requirements
- Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing with current registration in the state.
- Experience in the nursing field is required.
- Supervisory experience in long-term care is required.
- Thorough knowledge of nursing theory, techniques, and practices is essential.
- Knowledge of specialized procedures and equipment used in nursing is necessary.
- Understanding of dietetic, sanitation, and personal hygiene is required.
- Knowledge of medications, their dosages, and expected results is important.
- Skill in handling and manipulating instruments and equipment is needed.
- Ability to coordinate and supervise nursing functions effectively is required.
- Empathetic attitude towards residents and ability to gain their confidence is essential.
- Ability to understand and follow technical oral and written instructions is necessary.
- Quick decision-making skills in emergencies are required.
- Ability to train subordinates in work procedures is essential.
- Positive interaction skills with personnel, residents, and families are necessary.
- Annual verification of a negative TB skin test is required.
