About the position

The Registered Nurse (RN) position at AdventHealth Shawnee Mission is a full-time role focused on providing comprehensive care to patients within the oncology department. The RN will coordinate the efforts of a multidisciplinary care team, ensuring that each patient receives personalized attention and care tailored to their specific needs. This role involves direct patient care, collaboration with patients, families, peers, physicians, and other healthcare team members to deliver optimal care. The RN will utilize the nursing process, which includes assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation, to maintain and improve patient outcomes. In addition to clinical responsibilities, the RN is expected to demonstrate leadership and management skills, showing a commitment to professional accountability and growth. The RN will strive to advance their skills from novice to expert, becoming an evidence-based scholar to advocate for their patients effectively. This position requires adherence to the Kansas Nurse Practice Act, regulatory standards, and established policies and procedures, ensuring that all care provided aligns with the mission, vision, and values of Shawnee Mission Health. The RN will work 12-hour shifts from 6:45 am to 7:15 pm, with a schedule that includes every third weekend and one major and one minor holiday. There is no on-call requirement for this position, allowing for a balanced work-life schedule. Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the efforts of the multidisciplinary care team for patients.
  • Provide direct patient care and collaborate with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
  • Utilize the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation) to maintain and improve patient outcomes.
  • Demonstrate leadership and management skills in patient care.
  • Participate in bedside shift reports, safety huddles, and multidisciplinary patient rounds.
  • Prioritize nursing interventions based on patient needs and available resources.

Requirements

  • Kansas Registered Nurse License
  • BCLS obtained through the American Heart Association
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or obtained within 4 years of employment
