About the position

The Registered Nurse (RN) position at AdventHealth Shawnee Mission is a part-time night role focused on providing comprehensive care to oncology patients. The RN will coordinate the efforts of a multidisciplinary care team, ensuring that each patient receives personalized attention and treatment tailored to their specific needs. This role involves direct patient care, collaboration with patients, families, and healthcare professionals, and the application of the nursing process, which includes assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care. The RN is expected to demonstrate leadership and management skills while maintaining professional accountability and pursuing continuous growth in their nursing practice. The RN will serve as a role model for the mission, vision, and values of Shawnee Mission Health, advocating for patients and ensuring adherence to the Kansas Nurse Practice Act and established healthcare standards. The RN will work 12-hour shifts from 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM, with a schedule that includes every third weekend and one major and one minor holiday. The position does not require on-call duties. The RN will utilize their assessment skills to ensure patient safety and implement care plans that address the physical, psychosocial, and spiritual needs of patients. Active participation in bedside shift reports, safety huddles, and multidisciplinary rounds is essential to gather necessary information for patient care and facilitate smooth transitions between care team members. This role is integral to the holistic approach to patient care that AdventHealth promotes, focusing on the well-being of the whole person.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the efforts of the multidisciplinary care team for oncology patients.
  • Provide direct patient care and collaborate with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
  • Utilize the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation) to maintain and improve patient outcomes.
  • Demonstrate leadership and management skills in nursing practice.
  • Advocate for patients and ensure adherence to the Kansas Nurse Practice Act and established healthcare standards.
  • Participate in bedside shift reports, safety huddles, and multidisciplinary patient rounds.
  • Implement care plans based on identified physical, psychosocial, and spiritual needs of patients.
  • Prioritize nursing interventions based on patient needs and available resources.

Requirements

  • Kansas Registered Nurse License
  • BCLS obtained through the American Heart Association
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or obtained within 4 years of employment
