About the position

The nursing position involves providing comprehensive care to a diverse patient population in a hospital setting, addressing a range of health issues from simple to complex. The role requires effective communication with patients and their families, as well as collaboration with medical staff to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Assumes responsibility for an assigned group of patients.
  • Documents patient responses to nursing interventions and prescribed medical treatments; notes all changes in physician orders on assigned patients.
  • Assists physician in the examination of patients and in performing minor diagnostic procedures and treatment.
  • Obtains and monitors physiological data of patients, observes physiological manifestations, and intervenes when necessary.
  • Administers medication as prescribed.
  • Initiates, regulates, and monitors intravenous infusions and blood products.
  • Delivers patient care competently.
  • Interacts with family and patient in sharing care plan while in the hospital and at time of discharge.
  • Informs patient and family of hospital procedures.
  • Makes referrals regarding patient care needs to appropriate personnel.
  • Delegates tasks to support staff.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing required.
  • Current RN License issued by the Oklahoma State Board of Nursing, or a current multistate compact RN License (eNLC).
  • Current Basic Life Support issued by the American Heart Association required upon hire.
  • ACLS (American Heart Association) within 1 year of hire.
  • Obtain Fundamentals of Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Administration - Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) within one year of hire.
  • Within three years of hire, obtain ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Certificate - Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) to replace Fundamentals of Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Administration - Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) certification.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor of Science (or higher) in Nursing Board Approved Program preferred.
  • Some computer skills.
