About the position

The Surgical Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for providing direct nursing care to patients during surgical procedures at OneCore Health. This role involves preparing and caring for patients during the peri-operative period, ensuring compliance with AORN standards, and maintaining effective communication with the Clinical Lead RN regarding any issues that arise in the operating room.

Responsibilities

• Utilizes nursing process in assessment, evaluation, and intervention in patient care as provided in the operating room.
• Ensures the OR is set up appropriately for each case, including reviewing the surgeon preference card for supplies.
• Identifies the patient and reviews the site and procedure with the patient before transporting them from Pre-op to OR.
• Completes the medical record, including H&P, prior to patient transport.
• Demonstrates competence in assessing, treating, and caring for individuals based on age-specific needs.
• Assists the anesthesiologist before, during, and after the case as indicated.
• Completes all documentation to ensure accurate and up-to-date information is available.
• Adheres to established safety requirements and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
• Demonstrates the safe operation of equipment and machinery, reporting any unsafe situations.
• Communicates patient information to assure confidentiality and continuity of care.
• Interacts with patients, families, visitors, and fellow employees in a professional manner.

Requirements

• Valid RN License
• Experience in peri-operative nursing
• Knowledge of AORN standards
• Ability to assess and treat patients based on age-specific needs
• Strong communication skills

Nice-to-haves

• Certification in perioperative nursing
• Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) systems
