About the position
The position involves providing perioperative care to patients with cardiovascular, pulmonary, and vascular health deficits. The nurse will utilize the nursing process to assess, plan, intervene, and evaluate complex multisystem health care needs, particularly for unstable patients or those requiring complex care management. The role includes leadership responsibilities supported by the nurse manager and charge nurse, such as serving as the Charge Nurse and conducting unit orientation and education.
Responsibilities
- Provide and direct primary nursing care to patients with cardiovascular/pulmonary/vascular health deficits.
- Perform comprehensive assessments, planning, intervention, and evaluation of complex multisystem health care deficits.
- Direct nursing care for unstable patients or those requiring complex care management.
- Handle multiple demands and tasks simultaneously, demonstrating clinical problem-solving skills.
- Assume unit leadership roles, including serving as Charge Nurse and committee leadership.
- Conduct unit orientation and education for new staff.
- Guide the use of resources for patient care.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited diploma, associate degree, or baccalaureate degree nursing program.
- NJ State Nursing License.
- BLS certification.
- Preferred: One year of experience in OR nursing.
- Preferred: Basic Arrhythmia Interpretation, IV Therapy Certification, Hemodynamics, and Mock Code within 90 days of hire or promotion.
- Preferred: Bachelor's degree in nursing.
