About the position

The Registered Nurse (RN) position at AdventHealth Shawnee Mission is a full-time role focused on providing exceptional care to patients in the orthopedic unit during night shifts. The RN will coordinate the efforts of a multidisciplinary care team, ensuring that each patient receives comprehensive and holistic care that addresses their physical, emotional, and spiritual needs. This role requires the RN to utilize the nursing process, which includes assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation, to maintain and improve patient outcomes. The RN will work collaboratively with patients, families, peers, physicians, and other healthcare team members to deliver high-quality care tailored to a specific patient population. In this position, the RN will demonstrate leadership and management skills, showcasing a commitment to professional accountability and growth. The RN is expected to advance from novice to expert, becoming an evidence-based scholar to provide optimal patient care and advocate for their patients. The RN will serve as a role model for the mission, vision, and values of Shawnee Mission Health, ensuring compliance with the Kansas Nurse Practice Act and all regulatory standards. The work schedule consists of 12-hour shifts from 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM, with the expectation of working every third weekend and one major and one minor holiday. There is no on-call requirement for this position. Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the efforts of the multidisciplinary care team for patients within the RN's scope of responsibility.
  • Provide direct patient care and collaborate with patients, families, peers, physicians, and other healthcare team members.
  • Utilize the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation) to maintain and improve patient outcomes.
  • Demonstrate leadership and management skills while committing to professional accountability and growth.
  • Act as a role model for the mission, vision, and values of Shawnee Mission Health.
  • Work within the parameters of the Kansas Nurse Practice Act and established policies, protocols, and procedures.
  • Participate in bedside shift reports, safety huddles, multidisciplinary patient rounds, and hourly rounding.

Requirements

  • Kansas Registered Nurse License
  • BCLS obtained through the American Heart Association
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or obtained within 4 years of employment
