About the position

The Registered Nurse (RN) at AdventHealth Shawnee Mission plays a crucial role in the outpatient setting, specifically within the AdventHealth Cancer Institute. This position is designed for a dedicated nursing professional who is committed to providing comprehensive care to patients. The RN will coordinate the efforts of a multidisciplinary care team, ensuring that each patient receives personalized attention tailored to their unique needs. This involves direct patient care, collaboration with patients, families, peers, physicians, and other healthcare team members to deliver effective care to a specific patient population. The RN will utilize the nursing process, which includes assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation, to maintain and improve patient outcomes. In this role, the RN will demonstrate accurate assessment skills that are appropriate for the patient population, adhering to evidence-based practices and established policies. Patient safety is paramount, and the RN will ensure compliance with safety protocols and utilize resources effectively. The RN will also be responsible for implementing a plan of care that addresses the physical, psychosocial, and spiritual needs of patients. Additionally, the RN will provide routine and specialized teaching and discharge planning to prepare patients and their families for independence prior to discharge. This position is full-time, with a schedule of Monday through Friday, totaling 40 hours per week, and is located at AdventHealth Shawnee Mission in Merriam, Kansas.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the efforts of the multidisciplinary care team for patients.

  • Provide routine and specialized teaching/discharge planning throughout the patient stay.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree in Nursing or Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (or obtained within 5 years of employment).
  • Kansas Registered Nurse License.
  • BCLS certification obtained through the American Heart Association.
