About the position

The RN Pediatric Fellowship Program at Baylor Scott & White Health is a comprehensive six-month program designed for clinical nurses to enhance their nursing competencies and facilitate a seamless transition into specialized areas such as PICU, ED, and NICU. This full-time fellowship includes specialty area orientation, classroom lessons, simulation, practice-based learning, mentorship, and professional development, aimed at delivering safe, high-quality care within the chosen specialty.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct detailed clinical assessments of patients.
  • Prioritize patient and family needs in care planning.
  • Create, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans.
  • Adjust care plans to achieve desired patient outcomes.
  • Build therapeutic relationships with patients and families.
  • Educate patients, families, and community members on healthcare choices.
  • Assess and document learning needs of patients and families.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and community to develop care plans.
  • Delegate tasks appropriately and follow up on care delivery.
  • Utilize problem-solving strategies with patients, families, and staff.

Requirements

  • 18 months of nursing experience preferred (12 months minimum).
  • BSN preferred.
  • Two recommendation letters (one from current leadership).
  • Curriculum vitae with resume.

Nice-to-haves

  • Proficiency in medical terminology and understanding of health and disease management.
  • Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office and electronic medical documentation.
