About the position
The RN Pediatric Fellowship Program at Baylor Scott & White Health is a comprehensive six-month program designed for clinical nurses to enhance their nursing competencies and facilitate a seamless transition into specialized areas such as PICU, ED, and NICU. This full-time fellowship includes specialty area orientation, classroom lessons, simulation, practice-based learning, mentorship, and professional development, aimed at delivering safe, high-quality care within the chosen specialty.
Responsibilities
- Conduct detailed clinical assessments of patients.
- Prioritize patient and family needs in care planning.
- Create, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans.
- Adjust care plans to achieve desired patient outcomes.
- Build therapeutic relationships with patients and families.
- Educate patients, families, and community members on healthcare choices.
- Assess and document learning needs of patients and families.
- Collaborate with colleagues and community to develop care plans.
- Delegate tasks appropriately and follow up on care delivery.
- Utilize problem-solving strategies with patients, families, and staff.
Requirements
- 18 months of nursing experience preferred (12 months minimum).
- BSN preferred.
- Two recommendation letters (one from current leadership).
- Curriculum vitae with resume.
Nice-to-haves
- Proficiency in medical terminology and understanding of health and disease management.
- Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office and electronic medical documentation.
