About The Position

The RN Pediatric Fellowship Program at Baylor Scott & White Health is a comprehensive six-month training initiative designed for clinical nurses to enhance their competencies in pediatric care. This full-time fellowship offers specialized training in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), Emergency Department (ED), and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), focusing on professional development and mentorship to ensure the delivery of safe, high-quality care.

Requirements

  • 18 months of nursing experience preferred (12 months minimum).
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
  • Two recommendation letters (one from current leadership).
  • Curriculum vitae with resume.

Nice To Haves

  • Proficiency in medical terminology and understanding of health and disease management.
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office and electronic medical documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct detailed clinical assessments of patients.
  • Prioritize patient and family needs in care planning.
  • Create, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans.
  • Adjust care plans based on patient responses to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Build therapeutic relationships with patients and families.
  • Educate patients, families, and community members on healthcare choices.
  • Assess and document learning needs of patients regularly.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and community to develop care plans.
  • Delegate tasks appropriately and follow up on their completion.
  • Utilize problem-solving strategies with patients, families, and staff.
