Responsibilities

  • Administer medications and treatments following physician orders and state regulations.

  • Assist students with chronic illnesses in managing their conditions while at school.
  • Perform health screenings, vision and hearing tests, and maintain accurate health records.
  • Provide first aid and immediate care for injuries or sudden illnesses.
  • Educate students, parents, and staff on health-related topics and promote a healthy school environment.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals, school counselors, and administrators to ensure students' well-being.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations in all health-related matters.
  • Participate in emergency drills and crisis intervention when necessary.
  • Keep abreast of the latest developments in pediatric healthcare through continuing education.

Requirements

  • Current RN license in the state of Virginia.
  • Pediatric nursing experience preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Compassion and empathy for working with children and their families.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced school environment.
  • Knowledge of state and federal regulations regarding school health services.
  • CPR and First Aid certification.
