About the position

The position involves providing direct nursing care to assigned patients in various clinical specialties such as PCU, ICU, and ED. The role requires adherence to hospital policies and procedures while promoting a positive work environment and ensuring quality patient care. The nurse will work as part of a healthcare team, implementing individualized care plans and participating in patient safety initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver safe direct care to an assigned group of patients as required
  • Work within Hospitals, Nursing division and departmental policies
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to implement and document individualized care plans
  • Assist with special tests and procedures, ensuring proper consent has been obtained
  • Participate in orientation and assume precepting responsibilities of new personnel
  • Assist with or institute emergency measures for sudden, adverse developments in patients
  • Ensure that patient medical records contain necessary information
  • Answer telephones and triage calls as per departmental policy
  • Administer medication, including IV medication, via the Seven Rights; document and communicate clinical findings
  • Maintain a safe, comfortable, and therapeutic environment for patients/families
  • Enhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs and workshops
  • Follow patient safety-related policies, procedures and protocols
  • Demonstrate proactive approach to patient safety by seeking opportunities to improve patient safety
  • Identify and report/correct environmental conditions that may put a patient at undue risk
  • Report potential or actual patient safety concerns, medical errors and/or near misses in a timely manner
  • Encourage patients to actively participate in their own care by asking questions and reporting treatment situations that they don't understand

Requirements

  • Program Graduate
  • 1 year directly related experience
  • CPR for Healthcare/BLS Provider or Professional Rescuers within 30 days
  • RN in NM or as allowed by reciprocal agreement by NM

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Nationally Certified in area of specialty
  • PALS
  • TNCC and/or ENPC
