The position involves providing professional nursing care to patients on a per diem basis, utilizing the nursing process in collaboration with other healthcare team members. The role requires a comprehensive assessment of patients' physical, emotional, socio-economic, and environmental needs, ensuring that care is tailored to each individual's circumstances. The nurse will identify problems using patient databases, the nursing process, and the physician's treatment plan, developing a personalized plan of care that is communicated effectively to both the patient and their family. In addition to direct patient care, the nurse will observe, evaluate, and report on the patient's condition, including their reactions to medications and treatments. This involves interpreting social and physical factors that may impact the patient's care. The role also includes assessing health status through various methods such as observation and interviews, and providing counseling to families on wellness principles, nutrition, safety, education, mental health, and dental care. The nurse will perform screening and diagnostic procedures in accordance with established medical policies and competency levels, assist physicians during examinations and treatments, and interpret test findings for patients and their families. Responsibilities also include obtaining laboratory specimens, administering preventive immunizations or treatments under medical supervision, and participating in continuing education and quality management programs.
