About the position

The RN - Peri Op position at Washington Co Hospital is a full-time role focused on providing comprehensive nursing care to patients undergoing peri-operative services. This role involves working closely with patients before, during, and after surgical procedures, ensuring that their nursing care needs are assessed and met effectively. The RN will be responsible for evaluating the effectiveness of the care provided and integrating nursing theory into clinical practice. This includes applying nursing theory to assess, diagnose, treat, and evaluate safe patient care, while continuously analyzing ongoing assessment data to determine safe patient outcomes. In this position, the RN will collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team, integrating information from both patients and their families to ensure a holistic approach to care. The role requires a commitment to providing a positive customer experience, which includes actively resolving customer concerns and developing patient care plans that are tailored to individual patient conditions, ages, and socio-economic backgrounds. The RN will utilize critical and analytical skills to prescribe interventions aimed at achieving expected outcomes, while also serving as a role model and resource for other staff members. The RN - Peri Op must demonstrate clinical competence and maintain current knowledge in caring for a diverse patient population, ranging from pediatric to geriatric patients. This position requires a current State of Iowa RN license, with a preference for candidates who have 2-3 years of experience as an operating nurse and experience in providing perioperative care. BLS certification is mandatory, and for those working in the Operating Room Suites, Endoscopy Suites, and Post Anesthesia Care Unit, ACLS and PALS certifications are required or must be obtained within the first year of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Collaboratively coordinates the continuum of care across the multi-disciplinary team settings.
  • Provide a positive customer experience by involvement and resolution of customer concerns.
  • Develops patient care plan using critical and analytical skills based on patient condition, age, and psychological, educational and socioeconomic conditions that prescribes interventions to attain expected outcomes.
  • Effectively apply technical knowledge to problem solve and act as a role model and resource person for other staff members.

Requirements

  • Current license as a registered nurse issued by the State of Iowa or eligibility for reciprocity or a work permit issued by the State of Iowa.
  • 2-3 years experience as an operating nurse, preferred.
  • Experience as a nurse providing perioperative care, preferred.
  • Ability to demonstrate clinical competence and maintain current knowledge in caring for pediatric to geriatric patients.
  • BLS certification.
  • For RN staff working in the Operating Room Suites, Endoscopy Suites and Post Anesthesia Care Unit, ACLS certified or willingness to complete within 1 year of hire.
  • PALS certified or willingness to complete within 1 year of hire.
