About the position

The RN - Peri Op position at Washington Co Hospital is responsible for providing comprehensive nursing care to patients undergoing peri-operative services. This role involves assessing patient needs, evaluating the effectiveness of care, and integrating nursing theory into practice. The RN will collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team to ensure safe patient outcomes and a positive customer experience.

Responsibilities

  • Collaboratively coordinates the continuum of care across the multi-disciplinary team settings.
  • Openness to new approaches, methods or technology in the ever-changing healthcare setting.
  • Provide a positive customer experience by involvement and resolution of customer concerns.
  • Develops patient care plan using critical and analytical skills based on patient condition, age, and psychological, educational and socioeconomic conditions that prescribes interventions to attain expected outcomes.
  • Effectively apply technical knowledge to problem solve and act as a role model and resource person for other staff members.

Requirements

  • Current license as a registered nurse issued by the State of Iowa or eligibility for reciprocity or a work permit.
  • 2-3 years experience as an operating nurse, preferred.
  • Experience as a nurse providing perioperative care, preferred.
  • Ability to demonstrate clinical competence and maintain current knowledge in caring for pediatric to geriatric patients.
  • BLS certification.
  • ACLS certified or willingness to complete within 1 year of hire for RN staff working in the Operating Room Suites, Endoscopy Suites and Post Anesthesia Care Unit.
  • PALS certified or willingness to complete within 1 year of hire.
